Please develop 2 Level II questions & 1 Level III question. . (Level II's- one question regarding author perspective, the other relating to the storyline/text).
1. (II) At the end of the book, everyone seems to believe that the evil in the Overlook died in the fire. However, something did almost make Hallorann turn on Danny and Wendy. Is this King's way of saying that the Overlook is not finished yet or was that the last effort of the hotel to finish the job? 2. (II) When the manager/ caretaker turned the roque mallet on himself, was that the last of Danny's father trying to save his little boy? 3. (III) If you were in Danny's place, would you ever recover from such an experience?
1. (II) Could there be a connection between Wendy, and her character type and importance in the book, with the character Wendy from Peter Pan; in her role as the 'mother of lost boys'? 2. (II) Why does King create Jacks father to be so cruel and yet so similar to jack himself and how does it effect the story? 3. (III) Is there ever truly a way for us to get rid of our fears for ever or with they, in some way, always remain with us?
1. (II) What is the significance of King choosing to keep certain words that Danny says innocent? Ex. Presidential sweet instead of suite 2. (II) Why is Danny more inclined to do something his father asks and spend time with him than he is with his mother? 3. (III) Are we more inclined to mimic the behavior of those we are raised by?
II) When did King foreshadow that Jack was the only one who wouldn't escape. If he didn't, was it for the purpose of surprising readers? II) Was the fact that Hallorann is such a negative person but their only salvation significant? If so, what does it show about humans? III) Will there ever be a case when pretending one's problems don't exist be preferable to an early confrontation? In other words, do problems always get bigger with tine or do they shrink? Is it completely situational?
(II) Does King make Danny the victim of the Overlook more so than Jack or Wendy to make the story darker and to seem scarier? (II) Why would Jack agree with Grady that Danny is always betraying him, when Danny would clearly never do anything his father wouldn't want him to? (III) Can what seems like the worst possible outcome happen to be what's best for our future?
II: Will Danny and Wendy be able to live a happy and/or normal life after their experience at the Overlook? II: Why did the hotel want Danny so much? III: Do people have the ability to differ from the way that they were raised and their parents?
